Last Safari

We made one last trip to the Safari park and I made sure to do all the things the kids wanted to do.  Leon made sure to say good by to these guys.
The kids loved the guide we had on the tram, he was full of jokes.  I thought it was interesting that they drive a golf ball picker upper around the fields to clean up the dung.

For our last trip the kids wanted to spend a long time in the little village.

I had a seat so I didn't mind so much.

Goat selfie.

All the kids wanted a picture with a statue.

I am grateful for the opportunity I have to take the kids on fun day trips like this.  I know it isn't something most families get to regularly do during the school year and it has been a great blessing in our lives.  The more we do the better the behavior is from the kids and the closer we are to each other.

Last Zoo Trip

We went to the zoo one more time before our passes expired and this time I made sure to do everything the kids wanted to do... like pick a gorilla's nose.
Spend so much time looking at bugs I got grossed out.  Penelope was surprisingly interested in the bugs.
Get scared by a giant spider.
Ride the skyfari.

Visit the scarlett macaws.
See the giant turtles.  Did you know they only feed them once a week and the turtles can go much longer than that without eating?
And of course get lots of hand stamps.
We were able to do everything they wanted... except buy the expensive ice cream and other things from the gift shop.

Random

Just a short post today.  I took these of the kids playing at the beach.  Leon loves his pajamas by the way.  I would say he wears them just as much during the day if not more.

Safari With Talitha

Tucker thought going boogie boarding with Talitha was the greatest thing!  He love telling her how to do it and explaining things to her.  I thought about going but the water still feels cold to me.  I was pretty happy relaxing on the sand watching everyone.

We spent one day at the Safari park.  This time we saw a tiger going in the water.  The people around made it seem like that is pretty rare.
Talitha bought Leon this tiger toy and he was pretty obsessed with it.  He insisted it be in this picture.
 And this one.
She even let them do the squished penny thing.  They had fun with the crank.
Afterwards we headed to the cupcake shop.  They were out of a few flavors but my blood orange cupcake was delicious.

I was tired by the time we finished so I drove home (about a mile) and rested while Talitha walked the kids home.  It is nice to have a visitor.

Koalas

One great thing about the zoo is that it is always different.  We've been quite a few times recently and every time we go there is one animal that seems to take the spotlight.  One animal that is doing something different than usual.  One animal that we spend more time on than we usually do.  One animal that peaks the kids interests and gets them wanting to learn more. This trip was all about the Koalas.

According to the internet Koalas sleep between 18 and 22 hours a day!  That is an awfully lot of sleep.  When we visit them at the zoo they are almost always sleeping.  But on this day we saw one Koala wide awake.  She was receiving acupuncture.
She is the zoos oldest Koala and the acupuncture helps her move around with less pain.  She was wide awake and we spend some time watching her.  After they pulled the needles out they gave her a little back massage.
Koalas are one of my favorite animals.  If you look behind us in the picture above you can see a koala in the tree behind us.

The orangutans were also extra active when we watched them.  Probably because they were feeding them.
We were also lucky enough to see the cheetah being fed.
It was a good trip!
