Watch What I'm Wearing

Several people came up to me on Sunday and told me I looked like candy corn.  I had no idea until people started telling me.  I was just trying to put together some fall colors.  Oh well, I don't mind resembling candy even if it is a gross waxy Halloween candy.
Shirt: Old Navy, $0.75;    Cardigan: H&M, $17?;    Belt: f21: $3?;    Skirt: made it!   Boots: Sears, $25?

So what do you think?  Do I look like candy corn?

I'm about 15 1/2 weeks pregnant in this picture and you can see a little baby bump starting to stick out.  I'll have to admit my skirt was pretty tight and I was worried it would pop a seam before the end of the day.  Luckily the skirt made it, but I probably won't be able to wear it again until next Summer.

Watch What I'm Wearing

I love how this outfit turned out.  It wasn't really what I was planning, but I couldn't find the socks I wanted to wear so I threw the yellow ones on and it looks way better than what I had planned.  I even like how it looks in these pictures.  Sometimes I think and outfit looks good but then when I look back at the pictures I realize that it actually doesn't.  Well, this outfit was the opposite for me.
Dress: Old Navy, $15?;   Cardi: Ross;  Tights: f21;  Boots: Sears, $25
I'm about 14 1/2 weeks pregnant in this picture and I know this dress is going to suit me well in the coming months.  It is comfy and loose so there is plenty of room to grow.

Fall Transition

It was beautiful at our house yesterday.  70 and sunny.  But regardless of the warm weather yesterday it has been chilly and we are in full fall mode at my house.  I am talking, the homemade bread, hot chocolate, and wearing socks around the house.  I even turned the heat on a few weeks ago. I love the changing seasons.  It is just fun to do things a little bit differently.  Like, now that it is cold outside, I can walk Tucker to school without actually getting dressed.  I can just put a long coat on over my pjs and no one really notices. We canned peaches on sunday which seems like a fall sort of activity.  And now I am thinking about decorating.  Do you decorate for Autumn?  We do Christmas but I kinda want to spruce the house up a bit now.  Maybe I should just get out the Halloween decorations.  Oooo and speaking of Halloween it is time for me to start making our costumes.  I have it all planned out and they are going to be great!  So are  you getting into the season yet?

Fall Colors

In have two deciduous trees on my property and they both turn beautiful colors two different times of the year.  One turns a pinkish purple in the spring and this one turns read orange in the fall.

I love how one tree can have so many different colors.

Our evergreen trees are great but I really do love the color that leaf trees give even though it is only short lived.

Apples!

Apples Apples Apples!  I feel like I'm up to my ears in apples and I love it!  On Saturday I bought a 25# box of apples from "The fruit Lady".  I used quotes because I'm not sure who she is.  The whole thing could be a little shady (j/k).  I never saw her face or learned her name and only had contact with her through email and one short phone call.  I dropped my money in a box and went around back to pick up my large cardboard box of apples.  I didn't see a soul.  These must be some kind of delicious black market apples or something. ;-)

Seriously though, I dehydrated apples, canned apples (which I might do a tutorial on), made and apple crisp and just plain ate the apples.  We still have a few left.  This all seems very fall-esk.
Just talking about it makes me want to get some more apple crisp!  Yum!

Pumkin Patch fun

The pumpkin patch had a lot of activities for the kids.  They had a tricycle riding area, a hay pile to climb, hay to jump in, animals and a hale bale maze.
This maze was the perfect size for Tucker and Penelope.
I think this is my favorite family picture if only Scarlett was looking.
Tucker found a pumpkin he liked.
We even did a corn maze shaped like a dragon.  We let tucker pick which way to go and he took us to the first 5 stops without getting lost.  He did pretty good.  After 5 we went to 8 and and had to go back and find 6 and 7.  They also had a cute thing for the kids to find and trace the animal tracks and then at the end identify which animal they belonged to.
Tucker like usual asked if we can go back.  I told him we can in a year!

Pumpkin Patch

Yesterday we went to the pumpkin patch and corn maze up in Kingston.  I debated weather we should go to that one or go to a much closer one.  Now that it is all said and done I am glad we drove the 30 minutes.  This farm was way better.  They had tons of kids activities and even some animals.  We had a good time and could have stayed much longer if it was just a little bit warmer.
People probably thought it was a little weird that I was setting up a tripod.  But I thought the farm would make some great family pictures and I even made sure we were all wearing similar colors.  Of course I could take family pictures all day but the kids only lasted for about 5 shots.
I feel like yesterday was a perfect fall day.  It was cold but sunny and it even warmed up a little bit in the afternoon.  I raked up the pine cones (that's right we have to rake pine cones instead of leaves) in the backyard and bob even had time to clean out the garage.  I bought a 25# box of apples that I need to figure out how to can and the kids were able to play outside.  Yesterday was a great day and I have several more pictures I will post when I have some more time.  Now I need to help get the kids ready for baths.

Fall and Woombie

After fighting it for the past couple of weeks I am finally coming to terms that it is no longer summer.  It is freezing outside and I am ready to break out the sweaters.  I really like fall and winter cloths.  There is something so nice about snuggling up in boots and scarves leg warmers and longs sleeves.  I bought a new pair of shoes yesterday at kohls but I still want to get a nice pair of black boots.  My old ones are worn out.  I am now looking forward to making things with pumpkin and drinking hot chocolate.  Not to mention going to the pumpkin patch with the kids.

We got a Woombie for Scarlett a few months ago and I really like it.  It is the easiest way to wrap up a baby that I have ever tried.  Forget multiple blankets and velcro.  This is just a tight sleeper with no arms.  She can move in it but it is tight enough that when if she startles and jerks it doesn't really wake her up.  She has never gotten out of it which seemed to be a problem with other things we have tried.  I bought it online and wanted to recommend it for anyone who is looking for something like this.
