No Sew Easy Swimsuit Cover Up Tutorial DIY

We have been going to the beach about every other day and I love it!  I am so happy that I made this coverup.  It is getting lots of use.

After seeing this pin everywhere on Pinterest I knew I wanted to make my own.  The only problem was I couldn't fine a pin that was actually a link to the original site.  So I just went ahead and made it up myself.  Once I was done I went back and I did find that it is from Victoria's Secret on clearance for $39.99.  But don't go buy it.  All I needed to make it was one yard (36" x 55") of jersey knit material.  With a coupon for Joann's I probably only spent about $7.  Oh, and a hot glue gun.  That's right you don't even need to sew!

 1) Cut the fabric.  You might want to try it on to get your own measurements but for me I cut the 36" side down to 26".
 2) Use the smaller piece for the braid.  I think any kind will work but I did a 5 strand braid and used all of the fabric.  To learn how to do the 5 strand braid go here.

 3) Once that was done I measured how big I wanted the arm whole to be.  For me this was 20".  Then I cut the long braid and glued the ends to I had two 20" braids.
4) Then I glued six inches of the braid onto the back side of the fabric.  Make sure you glue the braid so the six inches are going down the short (26") side of fabric.

I then looped the braid around and glued the loose end to the inside of first end of the braid. (Does that make sense?)  It made a nice arm spot.

Repeat on the other end of the material.  So if you lay out the fabric, and you do the arm on the backside of the top left corner do the other arm on the backside of the top right corner.

5) Now if it fits how you like you can be done here.  For me the back of the cover up was hanging way to low on my body so I just bunched the fabric on the edge of the left side (make sure it is a part that the front of the coverup covers) and put a dot of glue to hold the bunch together.  It should fit now!

  18. I am not sure how to add a back, but if you use less material, like maybe a yard and a half then it should rest higher on your back, and cover more. Let me know how it works if you try it.

  19. Wat does it mean to cut 36" side down to 26"

  20. The fabric I started out with was 36 inches by 55 inches. After trying it out I wanted mine a little smaller so I cut the rectangle to be 26 inches by 55 inches. I hope that helps!

  21. It might help the explanation some if you also took photos of the whole item after completing each step. That way, we could get a better idea of what area you are working on. Consequently, it may make more sense to us of why you are doing what you are doing in that particular area. Thanks so much for the How to do!
