Computer

Like I mentioned before our imac is not working :(  I got it for my husband as a college graduation present back in 2008 and it ran perfectly until about a month ago.  We loved it!  One morning in San Diego it just wouldn't turn on.  Bob is pretty tech savvey and he has been working non stop trying to fix it (new hard drive, operating system...) but no luck.  At one point it started to work but then the next day it stopped working again.  I actually think that was an answer to my prayers.

I had been wanting the computer fixed so I could work on Tucker's birthday pictures and a father's day video for Bob.  So I prayed that I would be able to use the computer so I could do two things that I thought were good and important.  Guess what the computer started working and I was able to finish editing both Tucker's pictures and bobs videos.  That very same night the computer stopped working again.  I was sad that it stopped working but looking back I am thinking that maybe it only started working again so I could do those two things I prayed about.

Ok, enough side story.  The point is this acer netbook is not cutting it and we need to get a new computer.  I am thinking the 27" imac.  What do you think?  Anybody have any strong computer opinions out there?  My biggest fear is that Bob and I are going to spend a ton of money and then they are going to come out with a better model right after we set ours up.

I had no idea how much time I spend on the computer.  My life is pretty dependent on it.  Bob thinks it is worth it to spend a lot of money on the computer because we use it probably as much as our car, if not more.  Ok, now I am sure you think I just sit on facebook all day neglecting my kids.  Well, you are only half wrong.  I am on the computer a lot but I don't think I neglect my kids.  I don't really want to spend a lot of money for something that is outdated in 3 years.  decisions.

  1. Because I married someone who is more in to this stuff than I, I let him get what he wants because he's done his research, then I deal with it. LOL In other words, my opinion would mean nothing. Good Luck!

  2. I agree with Bob that it is worth it to spend a decent amount of money for a computer. We bought on HP laptop for Hawaii, and we're planning on using it as our main computer when we get home, replacing our 6 year old emachine, which works, but is slow.

We really like our laptop, but I know you guys like macs.

When we were deciding on our laptop, we first chose what items we really wanted (which processor, hoe much memory, screen size, etc.) and then picked the least expensive one that had everything we wanted.

    Good luck.

  3. I meant "an" HP laptop, not "on". Oops!
