Watch what I'm wearing has been going on for a little while now and I thought I would just explain for the newcomers what it is all about. I like clothes and I like to get dressed (somedays) but I don't feel like I am really great at fashion and taking pictures on our street every Sunday is awkward. The point is modesty! It is so hard when I see all the people in magazines and on tv are wearing clothes that I like but barely any of it is up to the same standards I have. I love fashion blogging because I get to see what real people are wearing! It isn't too difficult to be cute and modest but if you turn on the tv you wouldn't know it. So that is why I am here sharing my modest fashion ideas maybe I will inspire someone who is having a hard time dressing modestly but wants to give it a try.
dress: Old Navy; cardigan: Ross maybe? it is old; Shoes: Khols
I don't really feel like my clothes matched very well this week. The blue and brown just felt a bit off. What do you think? Does it match? Be honest, I can handle it.
Thanks for linking up and sharing with the world your outfits!

Love the dress. I agree that the cardigan looks okay but not great. I think that fushia and navy are really hard to match so matter the route you take.....
ReplyDeleteIt's interesting b/c the pic right below you includes cognac accessories and a black-and-white stripe. Maybe it's more to do with the scale of the stripes. I think a white cardigan or top would look better with this (really cute) dress. Ooh, or a denim jacket or chambray shirt. That's what I tend to do with my purple-and-navy striped dress b/c denim's a neutral. :)

I think the dress is a tricky piece as it is...no other colors should be added to it. If you need something to help with the chill, a denim jacket or vest goes with nearly anything. Fushia and navy are fun colors though!

I really don't like mixing brown and black it is a pet peeve of mine. I think maybe navy leggings and a denim jacket would have worked a wee bit better. Dress is super cute though!
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for the link. I would have gone with black or navy leggings, but I think that dress is very cute. Have a super stylish week.
ReplyDeletei love your old navy dress! gosh, i love that place!
ReplyDeleteI think the dress is cute. My question is about the leggings. Did anyone say anything to you about wearing them? We have some people in our ward who have very strong feelings against them, but I think they would be really helpful in my calling--nursery. It is so hard to stay covered and modest when you're bending over so much!
ReplyDeleteWhat are your thoughts on this? Is this another one of those flip flop situations?
The dress is cute, but I think that the cardi was a bit off as well, but you still are one good looking mama. And I am not sure about leggings as well. hehehe.... I have never worn my leggings this way, so I am not sure. :)
ReplyDeleteIt is a very cute dress, but I do think that perhaps a more contrasting color would have been better - denim/chambray, white or even a paler pink or light blue or even khaki. The chocolate is just too close in shade to the navy. That's okay though, you win some you lose some. :)
ReplyDeleteI think the brown and navy works, but I think it would have really made a statement with a contrasting colored cardigan. Maybe turquoise? But of course, turquoise is my answer to every problem in life. =)

I love to see more and more modest fashion blogs out there. I feel the same way about posing for pictures and I feel ya about the whole feeling awkward taking pictures. =) But I really appreciate all the modesty fashion inspiration that exists out there!

First of all you are adorable! I agree with the other commenters that the brown cardi doesn't vibe well with the navy. A cropped denim jacket or vest would look very cute though. I would probably switch out the belt on that dress too. But I love the dress as a whole, the colors are great on you.
ReplyDeleteI like how you've teamed the dress and the leggings. Looks lovely. I think the cardigan looks nice, but maybe black or blue would have worked better. It doesn't look bad though, just maybe not the best colour combination. x
