Troll Costume

This year Penelope really wanted to be a troll.  You know the doll with the jewel on its stomach?  I thought it would be pretty easy to put together and it was.  We went to a Fall Party at church and costumes were welcome so we got to test them out Friday.  I think they turned out pretty well.
So, if you need a last minute Halloween costume you could always be a troll.  All I did was get two skin colored leotards, one I borrowed and one I bought for $13.  Most Halloween stores sell them this time of year but ours was out so I went and got a nicer dance one online.  Then I bought the socks from the dollar store and hair color from walmart.  I think on both girls costumes I spent $20, not too bad and I'm planing on Penelope wearing her dance leotard many more times.  The costume would work without the skirt but I think everyone was a little more comfortable with them on.  For the jewels we  just cut out construction paper and taped it on.  They did fall of so next time I will pin them.

The hair is what everyone kept asking about.  All I did was stick an empty water bottle on top of their heads.  Then i pulled all the hair up and put a rubber band around it all on the top.  Penelope's needed one rubber band a few inches down also.  Scarlett's hair is shorter so I had to use a mini water bottle.  Then I loaded them up with hairspray and put the spray color on top.  They held up amazingly well.  Scarlett's was falling by the end of the night but that was after a car trip and lots of running around.  Penelope's stayed with no problems the entire time.  The girls both loved their hair.  I'm pretty sure that is why Penelope wanted to be a troll in the first place.

I didn't have a costume and happened to have a shirt that worked so I joined in last minute.  I felt a little silly but who cares.
I'll post about Tucker's costume tomorrow.  What are your kids being for Halloween?

Don't forget to enter the giveaway!  Barely anyone entered so you have a good chance of winning.

  4. Love the costumes! You could try felt instead of construction paper. It is really inexpensive and would probably stay on better :)
