The day after the first day of school I left Bob with the kids and flew to Arizona by myself for my grandpa's 100th birthday.
It was a quick trip and before I saw him I went to my grandma's house to visit her. She is 97. I'm hoping that in three years she will have a 100th birthday party as well. She is a lot of fun to talk to. She doesn't really know what is going on and she doesn't remember anything so we had a good long chat about the same things over and over again. She seems happy though and she did remember me by name but didn't recognize me. This is my mom's mom.
The next couple days I went to two 100th birthday parties for my grandfather. One with family and one at the independent living place for his friends. Everyone was very excited for this day and people have been planning it for a long time. I'm glad I was able to go. He is doing well, and has no major heath issues. He even surprised me by walking around without a cane. He is slow but totally with it. He told me he spends his time watching farming youtube videos. He never farmed in his life. He told us about his 100 year life story in five minutes. It was pretty cool. I had no idea about him serving in the military or being in war.
