Lace Crown Tutorial

These crowns were perfect for Penelope's birthday. I think I am going to save them for picture props as well.  They are very Lacy and girly.  Penelope wanted to wear hers and be a princes even though it kept falling off. I should have hooked it on with Bobby pins but just didn't get around to it.  They were easy to make, just give yourself at least a day or two so it can dry.

Materials Needed:
12"-18" of lace
Paint
Mod Podge (or fabric stiffener)
hot glue gun
wax paper

 1) Get your lace ready.  My 12" one worked, but it was on the small side. I also did a 16" one and I would maybe even go bigger next time.  These sizes are for sitting on top of the child's head not going around it above the ears.
 2) Lay paper down and paint both sides of the lace.  I used craft paint, but spray paint will work too.
 3) Lay wax paper down and Mod Podge both sides of the lace.  I then waited about 45 minutes and did it again.  I did 3 coats and it worked perfect.  Once you put the last coat on, move the lace to a new piece of wax paper to help prevent little glue windows in the crown.

Wait 24 hrs.
 4) Line up the ends and hot glue them together.  Making sure the overlap at least 1/2".

  1. Audrey was playing in a swivel chair as I was reading your blog. As she swiveled to view what I was doing she yelled, "Oh Beautiful!" haha I think she approves the crowns.

  3. Those are so cute! I bet my daughter would love one of these {she's only 18 months, but loves anything on her head}! I'm loving that red hair too {my little one has strawberry-blond-auburn-red hair... haha, we don't really know what color to call it yet because it looks different every day!}! :) I would love if you shared this at my Throwback Thursday party :) I hope to see you there and thank you so much for sharing! http://www.hubbymademe.com/throwback-thursday-no-12/
