Nagasaki

We spent last Saturday checking out Nagasaki.  In August 1945 the US dropped atomic bombs on both Hiroshima and Nagasaki.  I remember learning about the one in Hiroshima and have even been to the memorial, but before moving to Japan I don't think I knew about the one in Nagasaki.
The statue is pointing one hand up at the sky to point at the bomb and one had to the future.
The origami cranes are a big deal at both memorials and they represent a wish for peace.
There is a big park with statues and a fountain.  We saw the epicenter and spent a good amount of time learning about the bomb and aftermath at the memorial.
It was very sad.
The kids liked this escalator that had a stair and flat section.

Afterward we went to see the spectacle bridge.
