Bowling Night

Tucker's basketball team had an end of year party at the bowling ally.  We decided to come along and bowl in a nearby lane.  Tucker made it very clear before we got there that we weren't bowling with him.  He did find his way over to us though when we got pizza.

Scarlett didn't want to bowl and we didn't make her.   She was happy to watch and just hang out.

Bowling Day

This summer we came up with a bucket list of fun things we want to do and on that list was bowling.  It always seems like we have so much time to do things but when I looked at the calendar to pick a day I realized that we needed to go the very same day or we probably wouldn't have a chance to go this summer at all.  So we quickly finished our morning chores and headed out.
The kids came up with their own bowling names that we put up on the tv. We had: Dude, Princess, SparkleShine, and Batman.

The kids each played two games, mostly using bumpers and this ramp.  I was mean and made tucker actually bowl it without the ramp.  He's got to learn sometime right.  I figure eight and up should learn to actually roll the ball by them selves.  Tucker did much better on his second game.  But still needs a lot of practice.
I love how the kids aren't in school and we have more time for things exactly like this!

Grandma and Grandpa Visit

Grandma and Grandpa Woestman came to visit last weekend.  The kids just love it when they come (we all do), they were counting down the days for almost a month.  Penelope would say "is it three weeks or three days for grandma and grandpa?"  Unfortunately we all had colds and Penelope was even throwing up at one point, but we still had fun.
And managed a project.  They put in a new kitchen window.  Here is the picture of when the window was torn out.  We had an old aluminum window and our countertop even rose up above it a few inches so we had this really weird gap between the window and the counter top.  And you had to reach down into it to open or shut the window.  This new one is slightly smaller and much nicer.  Bob still has a little bit of trim work to do so I'll post a pic when it is done.
On Saturday after Tucker's first t-ball game we went out for pizza and then bowling.  I got the highest score I can remember getting 133!

We are so happy that they can visit often enough that the kids feel comfortable around them.  It was a good weekend.

Watch What I'm Wearing

It was raining last week when I went out to take my outfit  pictures.  Usually when it is raining it is only really a drizzle so I tough it out and just get a little wet.  But last week I was speaking in church and didn't want to mess up my hair.  I seriously don't like speaking in church.  I get way way way nervous.  On the plus side, giving a talk in front of over a hundreds people is the perfect excuse for new church clothes right?  Check out the other new dress.

Bowling Night

We like to take the kids on base to go bowling every once in a while as a family.  Its pretty cheap ($12 for an hour) and we are always the only ones there.  This time seemed to go extra well.  Tucker did his bowls all by himself.  He needed some work on the proper form but who doesn't?
Bob told Penelope that if she leans the ball will go that way.  I don't think she really believed him though.  Afterward she said,"Mom, doing this (leaning) doesn't really make the ball move does it?"
Tucker totally threw this one and a few others overhand.  I'm surprised we didn't get yelled at.
Scarlett thought it was lost of fun.  She sometime lost interest between throwing the ball and waiting for it to hit the pins.

We were on the edge so about half way through the kids decided to run up and down and cheer everyone on.  They seemed like they were having the time of their lives.
Leon even had fun crawling around and pulling himself up on things.

I think in the end Bob won by more than double.  Then Tucker got something like 69 and I got 64 and the girls were a little under that.  Tucker really wanted to beat me.  We were close the entire time.  Keep in mind that he had bumpers on and I didn't ;-)  It usually takes me a couple games to get the hang of it again.  But we only played one.  Actually our hour ran out when Bob and Scarlett were on their last frame.  Everyone else finished.  The nice lady turned it back on so they could finish.

I think next we are going to try roller skating.

Bowling with Friends

For FHE last night we got together with a few friends and went bowling.  The  kids loved it and Scarlett even did better than i thought she would.  Tucker got a little crazy and Penelope wasn't all that interested in bowling but that is to be expected.
I thought the occasion warranted special socks.  although I started to regret it because they got really hot toward the end.
PennyBags was tucker and Penelope.  That is the latest rap song they have been singing.  Don't worry, there is no swearing or bad language in it.  I'm D Swift and Bob was Bob.  I think my score this time was lower than PennyBags :-(.  I did manage to get one strike!  That was during our extra combined game at the end.  All five of us bowled on the same game and we totaled a score of 125.  I think Denise and Mike did really good on their games.
Sometimes the kids used the bowling ramp thing.  But I think Tucker preferred to just chuck it down the lane as hard as he could and Penelope didn't really care either way.

As far as I can tell this is the lineup starting at the left:
Audrey, Leighton, Samantha??, Tucker, Laura??, and Penelope
We had a good time and I am glad Tucker and Penelope have friends to play with.  Thanks for inviting us!
