Sunday Morning

I am loving the new 11 o'clock church time!  Even if Bob has a meeting to go to in the morning we have time to get all ready without with little rushing and stressing.  Scarlett really wanted to wear Penelope's rainbow boots to church instead of the shoes I wanted her to wear so she ended up taking her shoes off three times before we actually left.  But once we got out the door she kept them on for the most part.

Tucker and Penelope came up with a new game they like to play on Sunday mornings and I have to admit I kind of like it too.  They spy on my while I am doing my hair and make up.  It is a great game because they are quiet and if I turn around they even run away.  Sometimes they put towels over their heads and try to sneak into the bathroom without me noticing.  Then when I ask how that towel got there, I can tell they are trying not to laugh.  It is cute, and it keeps them occupied for a good 20 minutes.

One good thing about Tucker being in such a small primary class is that he gets to give more talks.  Our ward assignes each class a month so whenever it is Tucker's class's turn to be in charge of the talk, scripture, prayer etc. Tucker is pretty much guaranteed to do something every week.  I took a video of yesterday's talk.  I didn't get the best part on video though.  Before his talk I could tell he was getting nervous/excited.  He had a huge smile and kept reading over his talk in his seat.  It seemed like he could barely wait the two minutes for song and prayer before his turn and he practically jumped out of his seat.  It was cute.

Primary Program

Last week's primary program went really well.  I could only see Tucker from the back but I imagined that he looked really cute giving his part.  He had it memorized and he didn't mess up on the real thing. I actually started laughing during his part because it sounded like he got up in front of the congregation and said a big 'hi' before he started.  Later I talked to him about it and figured out that he just said the first word in his part 'I' then he paused and started again.  I didn't mess up my part either, which is an improvement form last year.  Somehow I ended up with the same part, the fourth article of faith.  Probably because I teach a class of 8-year-olds.  After we got home I had Tucker recite his part for the camera.  He insisted on finding a mic and he added a little at the beginning and end.



This weekend is general conference!  It is a great opportunity to relax at home and listen to the leaders of the church.  Hopefully it will be a nice change of pace from our busy last couple of weekends.  Sessions are at 9 am and 1pm for me (pacific standard time) on both Saturday and Sunday.  Now I just need to plan a few things to keep the kids busy.  Click the pic for more info. Primary Program

Yesterday was the primary program.  Tucker had his part memorized and he did such a good job.  I was really nervous for him but he didn't seem too nervous.  He did have me write up his part in picture form just in case he forgot it.  I tried to tell him that he didn't need it but he really wanted me to so I did and gave it to the teacher helping him.  When the time came he didn't use it.  Tucker also loves singing the songs and he knows them pretty well especially for a sunbeam.

I on the other hand totally messed up my part.  It is kind funny because my part was the fourth article of faith.  Who doesn't know that?  I have had that one memorized since I was 8.  My nerves just got to me and I said it wrong when I got to the podium.  Oh well.

The program on a whole was really great.  My mom even came.  There were a few times when I felt the spirit really strongly.  Most of them during the songs.  After the program all the teachers taught second hour and then had a little 'party' third hour.  The YM and YW watch the kids for that hour.  I love that idea!  The primary program has got to be my favorite Sunday out of the year!


He says, "Mommy and Daddy read the scriptures everyday with me.  We sit on the bed.  I learned about Captian Moroni, he is really brave."

P.S.  If you are wondering how to make the monster in the potty from yesterday I just cut a piece of black construction paper, added eyes, and taped it on.

Halloween Stuff

On Friday we went to a ward Halloween activity.  We carved pumpkins,  I'll spare you the picture since we did not finish and still haven't, and had a chili cook off.  Our chili won the 'most flavorful' prize.  Then yesterday we had our primary practice.  Tucker has his part memorized and he did a really good job.  I hope he isn't nervous for the program today.  I don't know why but I am plenty nervous for him.  I will also be sitting up front with the primary so I will only get to see him from behind.  I know it is going to be hard for me not to jump up and help him if he needs it.  It sound so silly but I was so proud of him and just in awe at how big he was getting I almost started crying when he did his part yesterday.  I never thought I would be one of 'those' moms.  But I guess I am.  Wish him luck for the program today!

We also added a few new Halloween decorations around the house this year.  Of course we weren't going to pay the rip off prices for little decorations that break so we made our own. 

Penelope was scared of the monster in the potty for a few days.  Oh well, it is not like she actually uses the potty anyway.
