The Kids

Penelope had a doctor's appointment on Friday and things are going well.  She is back up to her birth weight of 7 lbs 15 oz and her pediatrician is not worried about anything.  She is in 70ish percentile for her height and the 25 to 35 percentile for her weight and head size, which is about the same that Tucker has been since he was a couple of months old.  The amount of time she sleeps at night varies widely making it hard for Bob and I.  One night she slept for two 5 hour blocks and night, which was great, but the next night we couldn't get her to sleep for more than an hour and a half at a time.  Luckily she for the past two nights she has only been awake when it was time for her to eat.  I am hoping that she keeps this up.  This was especially nice because Bob went on a camp out with the scouts Friday night, making it my first night without his help.   Bob always helps out at night, unless she is hungry of course.  Even if I get to sleep in 'till 9 it is still hard for me to get out of bed in the mornings, and I think that is because waking up every couple hours to feed Penelope is stopping me from getting the full rem cycle.  Anyway, Tucker loves having Penelope around.  He does act out a little bit more and I think that is because he wants more attention, nothing major.  And he is still learning that you can't jump on the couch when Penelope is sleeping on it.  He always looks around and says says 'mama, where baby?'  And the yesterday I saw Tucker showing Penelope his toy sword.  Tucker is becoming very vocal.  He points out everything he sees and tells me mini stories about random things.  Or he will just point at everything and say 'whats that?' even when I know he knows what it is.  Tucker has been working on potty training.  He loves to go in the potty, if I put underwear on him he always wets them but if I put a diaper on him he wants me to take him to the potty every 5 minutes which also gets really annoying.  Oh, well.  He is getting there.  I cannot believe how big he is.  Once we took Penelope home Tucker seemed just huge.  It is so fun to watch them grow.
