16th Anniversary

Bob and I celebrated our 16th anniversary this year!!  We both worked so we met up after work and went out to eat.  (If you only follow the blog you might be thinking what?  You work? And you have pink hair? I know I promise I will make more summer updates soon, but I want to get this down while it is still fresh in my mind).
We went to a local sushi place where they have a fish tank right in the restaurant with fish so you know it is fresh.  I originally thought they were going to fish it out right in front of us but they didn't.
Neither of us are huge sushi fans.  But when you live in Japan eating raw fish is just kind of part of life sometimes.
After we ate we walked around the area and did some shopping.  I love to check out the plants.
We did not buy this bear, but for reference it was about 3 feet tall.
Then Bob took me to Seattle!!!
Just kidding, I wish.  But we saw one of the walls had a Pikes Place market picture on it and so I had to pose and pretend.  After shopping we headed home and gave each other presents.  Mostly just random things we both wanted on our Amazon wish lists.  Bob got me books my friend wrote and I got him a coat rack for his office.
I kind of wanted to take a nice picture together, but it didn't really happen.  Maybe after I touch up my roots, haha.

Coach Bob's Gym Class

Bob and the kids have been working hard all week to put together kids work out videos.  I've wanted videos like this for a while now.  It is nice for homeschool kids.  Now that so many people are homeschooling and Bob had this week off work it seemed like the perfect time.  They are going to try to do a new video each school day.  Check out the latest one.

Bob's Birthday

I like to start our Christmas celebration with Bob's birthday.  Yes, we do a lot before December 22nd, but when we have Bob's birthday pie it really starts to feel like Christmas is just around the corner.
36 years old!  Woop Woop!  Bob is such a great guy.  The kids and I are really lucky to have him in our family.
Bob is the hardest worker I know.  He gets up at 4:40 and is nonstop all day until he fall asleep around 10pm.  He worked a half day for his birthday so we could go out to lunch together.  It was a Saturday, but him working only a half day felt great.

 Happy Birthday Bob!

Father's Day

I feel like my kids really lucked out in the dad department.  Bob is such an amazing father to them.  He works so hard to provide for our family and he is a lot of fun for the kids.  I don't think they could have got anyone better!  And I really don't think Bob ever expected to be the dad to so many children!  Look at them all together :)
I also found some of the very first pictures of Bob as a dad.  He is so little.

Happy Father's Day!

Bob's Birthday and More

Christmas break was so nice this year.  I was really ready for a break from homeschool and we had lots of fun family time at home.  Bob celebrated his 35th birthday!  They have him this little cake at work.  It says Bob san,  the san is the Japanese equivalent of Mr.   Bob works with lots of Japanese people everyday.
Bob did have to work the morning even though it was on Saturday but we met him for lunch at one of our favorite curry places.  And then went to the movies on base.  We saw Mary Poppins Returns.  I really liked it!  The kids loved it as well.  It was the perfect family movie, just like the first one.

That night Bob opened presents and we had his favorite cherry pie and ice cream. Happy Birthday Bob!
These next couple are just random pictures from during our break.  Calista loves to comb people's hair.  Now if only she would let me do something to her hair to keep it out of her eyes.
Leon made me a "Put yourself together," and I thought it was adorable.
This was my first time getting a puzzle of myself so in return I made ones for all the kids.
The kids like to put on lots of shows and plays for Bob and I to watch.  I usually love it.  Sometimes I'm busy and the "shows" seem to drag on but I'm so glad they are being creative and using their imaginations instead of doing something electronic that I always make a point to watch, no matter what.

Penelope made this little "show" for us, and then Bob left and came back a couple minutes later and asked her to do the show again.  It was pretty funny.

We also did lots and lots of baking.  Holiday treats are the best!

Bob's Birthday

We met Bob for lunch on his birthday.  They have a little cafeteria right next to his building so it worked out pretty well.  The kids were all so excited for his birthday. I asked Bob a few times what he wanted to do and all he wanted was to spend time with us.  He really is the best husband and dad!  The kids and I feel lucky to have him.

This is off topic but Tucker won the coloring contest at the commissary and got a free fruit basket.  He was very excited about the whole thing.  It ended up causing a lot of fighting because some of the other kids just couldn't get over the fact that Tucker won and not them.
That night we made Bob's favorite Korean BBQ and he opened his presents.  He even had his customary pie and ice cream.
The next day we went and saw the new Star Wars movie.  I felt really bad about bringing all the kids because we have never let them watch a movie like this before.  Tucker watched the older Star Wars movies but not the new ones.  I am usually really strict about what they can watch.  But for some reason we just decided to do it anyway.  We brought bob's tablet and headphones and put it on the floor by our feet.  Tucker, Scarlett, and Leon all ducked out of star wars to watch the tablet for a little bit.  It was pretty intense for them.
It is kind of fun having a new Star Wars movie come out every year.  I hope the kids don't think this is some sort of new tradition.

11th Anniversary

For our anniversary this year we went on a painting date.  We left all the kids even Calista with my parents and went to a paint studio.  We've never left Calista before so it was pretty exciting. I like to try to do something a little different for our anniversary besides just going out to eat.  It makes things seem extra special.

We went to this place where for 2 hours they give us directions and we tried to follow along the best we could to make the painting.  It was such a blast.

It was interesting to see how differently Bob and I paint.  And all the other people really.  We were all following the same directions yet they turned out different.  And I am kind of slow.  There were a couple times when Bob was finished between directions and I was frantically trying to catch up as she said the next thing.
Here are our "finished" products.  I felt really rushed and wasn't completely happy with exactly how mine turned out so I worked on it more at home.  Bob laughed at me.  But now I'm totally happy with it.
I chose these paintings because one day we want to go to Paris.  Maybe for our 20th anniversary.
I would looooove to do this again sometime.  I already like painting so this was really the perfect kind of date for me.
This next picture is one of our engagement pics.  We look so young!
Bob has been great these past 11 years!  I couldn't have asked for a better husband.

Father's Day

I am truly blessed to have lots of amazing fathers in my life.  First a great dad who was quiet and always willing to play with us growing up.  Then an amazing father-in-law who helped raise an awesome son.  And now the perfect husband who is the best dad to my children I could ever ask for.

We headed down to my parents house to celebrate the day before, giving us more time to spend with family and especially the kids cousins.  We even went on a short hike where I took this video of Bob and Calista:

One reason I think Bob is a great dad is because nothing is too hard for him.  There are lots of things that I'll back away from, like going grocery shopping with the kids, but Bob has no problem getting out there and doing what needs to be done.

Sunday morning we got up early to make my dad breakfast in bed.  It is something we used to do as kids and I thought it was fun to surprise him this year too.

Once we finished that I woke my kids up to make Bob breakfast in bed.  They love doing this!

Later after church we had a big lunch and just hung out at my parents for a while.  My sister made this delicious brownie cake.
We even had a chocolate fountain.
Below is a picture of my dad with Calista, his newest grandchild.  I think she is their 23rd or 24th.

Seahawks Game

We are sad the Seahawks are out of the playoffs and not going to the superbowl this year.  Tucker and Bob did get to go to a game before it ended.  I debated back and forth if I should take Tucker but with temperatures below 30 degrees I decided I didn't want to sit outside for 3 plus hours in the cold.  Plus Bob has never gone to a Seahawks game before and I knew he would enjoy it.
Talitha got Tucker the perfect hat for Christmas.
Sorry I don't have a lot to say, I wasn't there. :)

Wahoo Seahawks won!
