Christmas Lights

Bob and I try to go on a date every week.  Sometimes we get a babysitter or trade babysitting.  Other times we have to get creative like having an in home date starting once the kids are in bed at 8.  Last night we decided to go out as a family instead.  We drove around and looked at Christmas lights.  It seems like less and less people are putting up lights which to me is sad because I love looking at all the pretty lights at night.  One of my favorite things is when I pull up to our house at night and it is all lit up.  We played Christmas music on the radio and drove around Bremmerton for about an hour looking at lights.  It was relaxing.  If you are local then you might be interested in the best house which was on Fernwood Court NE.  it is really cool because when you get there you tune your radio to 91.9 and their lights are synchronized to the music.

Since I didn't take any pictures while we were out I just now took some of the lights in our house.

We didn't see this house, but I saw a pitcure of it online and thought they did a good job.
Our house doesn't have too many lights but it has enough for us.  They aren't perfectly lit up but they still make me smile every time I see them.  I was thinking about how Christmas lights have anything to do with Christ and I'm not quite sure how they got started but I thought about how they could relate in a couple of ways.  One is that they represent the new star.  But what makes more sense to me is that they represent Christ who is the light of the world.  They can also represent our testimonies because the scriptures do refer to testimonies as a candle, but for that to work I think you need to display your faith somehow in your decorations.  We did see several lit up nativities while we were out.  I want to get one for our house next year.

We'll definitely have to check out the Fernwood house. I too like to drive around and look at lights.

We also try to go out every year as a family to go look at lighted houses. I also think that people are not doing it as much as they used to around here. Makes me sad.
