Pumpkins and Spiders

The kids did more carving on their own this year then ever before.  It was awesome.  Penelope and Scarlett worked together on one pumpkin and Tucker and Penelope on the other.  Bob helped with drilling small holes but other than that it was mostly them.
The girls chose a cat with stars in the sky and the boys chose a black panther face.  I totally forgot to get pictures of them completed so you will have to imagine.  Tucker's was difficult but he worked hard on it.  He got upset a couple of times when it broke, but with some toothpicks and perseverance he was able to work it out.
The pumpkins started going bad after just one day.  After two days they were pretty gross.  I'll have to remember that for next year.  Luckily we procrastinated pretty bad this year and carved them the night before Halloween and finished the morning of.

On Halloween day we had time for a little themed art project.  These spiders were so easy! After their handprints dried they painted on eyes, and that was it.

We had a great time this year for Halloween, but I am ready to move on.  I still have a pumpkin sitting on my counter that has been waiting for me to turn it into a pie, but after that I'm done with the Holiday until next October.  We took down our decorations, and because we had them up for so long our house looks a little empty now.  I'm going to give us a couple weeks of nothing on the walls before setting up for Christmas.

Did you mean Tucker and Leon? You can bleach the inside and they will last longer. If it is a regular pumpkin, it will be hard to make a good pie. If it is a sugar baking pumpkin it will work.
