USS America Tour

When I casually mentioned to my friend Sam that I haven't really been on a ship much she was surprised.  One time we got to walk onto a carrier when we were in Washington but only the hangar bay and everything was pretty blocked off.  The next day she told me she arranged for her husband to give my family a tour.  I thought it was so sweet of her to do that for us.

We went on the America and we had so much fun.   We even got to eat in the officer's galley.
I took a picture next to NCIS, Bob and I are watching the series.
I was surprised that I could take pictures.  Bob was never allowed to even bring a camera phone into his building in Washington so I thought pictures would be out of the question.
We checked out the barracks.
We saw the officer and enlisted quarters.  I think the military is a good career choice for a lot of people and I want my kids to see it as an option.  That being said it is good for them to know the difference between joining as an officer or enlisted.  Because before moving to Japan I didn't really know much about it at all.

We even got to sit in the front and pretend to drive.  It was amazing.   We were really having so much fun running around the ship.

It was crazy hot outside, and the kids were up past their bedtime, but I'm so glad we went.  We really enjoyed ourselves.
