I love three-year-old birthdays! Calista was so confused but so loving it at the same time. I'm pretty sure she thinks birthday means cake, presents, and maybe even singing and balloons. We decorated her door and put balloons right outside it so when she got up the the morning we were all there and sang happy birthday to her. An hour or so later I was saying something about her birthday and she kept asking if it was her birthday again. It is really hard to explain to a toddler that it is her birthday all day. She must just think sometimes mom says its your birthday and you get presents and cake and sometimes mom says it is someone else's birthday and you have to watch them open present and then eat cake.
The main thing I wanted to get her was a doll stroller but it didn't come in time. Amazon prime takes about two weeks to get to us here in Japan. For some reason the stroller was about three. But what she didn't know didn't hurt her. She got plenty of dollar store presents to keep her happy.I was trying to ask her about a week before her birthday what kind of cake she wanted and she kept saying "white." It was a little confusing for me until she brought over a white cake mix torn out of the box and everything. So I went with it and even bought a tub of white frosting. The morning after grocery shopping she had white all over her. She totally opened the frosting and ate about half of it!
We ended up having to use homemade frosting. It takes me about two hours to go to the grocery store these days so making another trip wasn't happening. Bob also printed up a My Little Pony picture and I added sprinkles. I know she said she wanted a white cake, but it felt so plain. Calista really likes My Little Pony and I'm glad she is old enough to sit and stare at the TV now. It sounds crazy to say, and we don't watch a lot of TV, but when we do it is usually when I need to be away from the kids, like to shower. It is nice to know that she will sit still and not destroy the house during that time.
Happy Birthday Calista!
