Memory Foam

Bob and I don't have a very good mattress.  We felt like we lucked out when we bought the slightly used queen size mattress for only $50 off of craigslist about 5 years ago.  But now it isn't seeming like such a good deal.  It has a noticeable dip in it and we can feel the springs.  I would wake up sore in the morning.  This was just one of those things that didn't bother me too much until I got pregnant.  Now that I have so many pregnancy related issues to deal with an uncomfortable bed was not going to work for me.  The only problem was that we are planing on moving sometime in the next few years, and when we do I want a bigger bedroom with a king size bed.  We don't have room for it now but since I know it will be coming down the road I don't want to spend a ton of money on a new queen size mattress.  Solution, memory foam mattress topper.
For $150 we were able to get a mattress topper that helps make our mattress more comfy.  I'm not going to lie, I had to get used to it the first couple of nights.  And, I can still tell that we are sleeping on a old, cheap mattress.  But, it really helps a lot.  I don't wake up sore anymore.  I think it will work well for us until we have the space for a whole new bed.

Does anyone have a great mattress to recommend?

We bought one of those memory foam mattresses when we were in college, because we had an old mattress in our furnished apartment. I agree it doesn't really solve the problem of a bad bed. A few years ago we needed to buy a queen size bed for our guest bedroom and went to a mattress store and bought the floor model queen mattress for like $150-$200. So we got a brand new mattress. Have you looked in to that... because you might be able to find a new mattress for the same price as the memory foam.

I love my Tempurpedic! They have come down in price since I bought mine and have a cheaper line as well. It was a huge splurge for us, back when I was working I got a very nice bonus and that's what we got with it. But, it is so totally worth it. My husband gets up before me and I never know it, the mattress doesn't move an inch and after 4 years it feels the same as the first time we slept on it. No way will you get dips with this one. A good nights sleep is so very important and this mattress provides it. I HIGHLY recommend it!

You can always buy a piece or two of plywood or partical board and slide it between the mattress and the box spring. That should give you a couple more years. Then when you move you can recycle the board into shelves or a play house or what ever, so the money really isn't a waste. AND you can get a new bed for a bigger room. I don't think adding a foam pad on the top will do anything for the sagging.
