Dresser Remodel

We decided to unmount our tv and put it on a stand instead.  I liked the idea of using a dresser because of the extra storage.  I searched craigslist for a couple weeks to get something I wanted but couldn't find anything under $50.  I wasn't being picky either, I just wanted a dresser between 50 and 60 inches long.  I planned on updating it so I wasn't concerened with how it looked.  Surprisingly everyone things their dressers are worth $100 and I couldn't find anything.  One day at Good will I spoted this beauty for only $13.  I was so excited.  Check it out.

Ok, so it was dirty and it didn't really have a spot for Bob to put his speakers but we fixed that.  All it needed was a new coat of paint and we took apart the bottom drawers.  I love the finished product.

Now I just need a few more things and my family rom will be done!

That looks great!!! Okay...how do you repaint furniture? We've tried a few dresses and bookshelves and they never turn out good. They're always splotchy and look worse than when we started!

Very Pretty. I know how you feel though. I was on craigslist looking for bookshelves and a desk. Everyone was about $50+. I was thinking for that I could buy a new one at Walmart, and I still might. Blah.

I used an oil based primer and a roller for both the primer and the color coat. An oil based primer really helps stick to things when regular paint will scratch off. It is what we used for our laminate cabinets and we haven't had any problems. For the paint I made a chalk paint by mixing plaster of paris into the paint and then going over the entire thing with a wax. I hope that helps, Mary-Anne.

That looks really neat! I can't picture where it would be in your living room. I guess I'll have to come over and check it out in person. ;-)
