AOB

Last week I went to my very first and probably only ever AOB aka area orientation briefing.  No kids were allowed so the base even set up and paid for my kids to go to in home childcare 7:30-4:30 mon-fri.  No one had four available spaces in their house for our kids so Tucker had to go to a house by himself.  It was kind of a hard week for him because the next oldest child in the home was four.  The adult in the home was also a little strict, while the kids got to watch two movies a day and paint and go to the park in the other home.  I felt bad for Tucker, he brought the audio book and listened for about half the time.  I did get a special waiver to keep Calista with me.  It would have been nice to send her too, but the girls gotta eat.
I totally felt out of place. I'd say about 90% were military.  It was so strange to sit in the room all day with bob watching power point after powerpoint day by day.  We did get to eat lunch together, every day was almost like a date.
They had these fun origami things on the wall so I took a picture of each one.  Someone worked hard on these.

Calista made a new friend.  There was one other baby in the class. He had the best and thickets baby hair ever!  And he is only two days older than Calista.
Doesn't he look like he look like the guy on Dragon Ball Z?

So Calista is pretty spoiled and either Bob or I have held her during the day nonstop since we got to Japan.  She also is almost 5 months old and still won't sleep at night :(
The last day of AOB was drivers school.  We learned all about the laws and then took the written test.  I got to take it in a room with only Calista and the Japanese attendant while Bob and the rest had to take it all together with the questions up on the projector.  The main difference was that I could go at my own pace.  It was nice because the test was kind of hard, there were a lot of new signs to memorize and some of the wording was tricky.  In the end Bob and I both passed, I only missed two out of fifty and we have no idea how many Bob missed. I can't wait for our drive test!  The test will be my very first time driving on the left side of the road.  There is no way to practice.

Sounds brutal. Glad it's over. I did drive over there and our car was a stick. It was great fun!!
