James and the Giant Peach

Tucker has been working hard this school year for the high school play.  They let middle school children try out as well and Tucker got in.  I'll have to post a video of his audition piece later, he practiced it a ton.  Anyway, they have been practicing for two hours a day five days a week since September on their play James and the Giant Peach.  It was especially a lot of work for Tucker because he rode his bike the fourish miles there and back each day.  At first I thought it might be a lot for him to do alone, but he totally did it, and without complaint.  He loved going to play practice and has already expressed to me how he is sad it is ending.

I got to see the show last week and it was amazing!  Tucker was in the ensemble so he had many parts.  I'd guess he was in the play like 80% of the time.  This play had a lot for the ensemble to do.  We were all so excited to see the show, and it did not disappoint.  Just seeing Tucker up there so happy and working hard was awesome.

Here is a video of the opening song:

Tucker is one of the smallest ones in the play so he got to be up front quite a bit, it was great!

In the next picture Tucker is a seagull in a conga line.

Below is Tucker next to his friend Jaylean.  Everyone else in the play seems so huge and old to me.  It was interesting to watch, because the whole time Tucker was bringing himself to and from practices I was thinking he seemed so old and mature.  Then watching the play made him seem so little and cute.

This next video is of our favorite song, Shake It Up.

Tucker as a reporter.

Tucker is the second umpa lumpa down below.  I loved this scene, but I think he was a little embarrassed by it.  Basically he comes out singing the umpa lumpa song and then screams and runs off stage because the peach about to roll over them.  It's a cute little joke because the author of James and the Giant Peach also wrote Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.
Tucker is just a regular guy in the next scene, but he does have his one line that isn't a song.  He says, "Yep."  It was awesome!
The show is mostly all songs and costumes to it was really entertaining for even small children.  Tucker spent two full school days in the theater and did six performances for the schools.  He said everyone was really sweaty when they were done and he barely had time to eat.  He also did two night time performances last weekend and will do four this weekend.
The play took up so much time for him, he will need to do something to fill the void.  I'm trying to convince him to join the middle school drama club.

Great job Tucker!
