Visiting the Bamboo grove in Kyoto was one of my top priority things to do. Everyone really recommended it and there were hundreds of things online for tourists to do in Kyoto and near the top of each list was the bamboo grove. I wanted to see it not full of people so we went first thing in the morning. We didn't get there until after 8 so I expected there to be crowds, but nope. I guess I can thank covid for that.
We also took a few family photos. It was basically a pathway through many bamboo trees. The path wasn't as long and the forest wasn't nearly as big as I expected. This was one thing on our trip that I feel did not live up to the hype. Maybe I'm jaded because we walk through bamboo like this every time we go to the ninja park. It was a cool and pretty place, but not worth a trip down to Kyoto. Luckily there were plenty of other things that I feel did make the trip worth it.
