Monkey Park

Monkey Park in Kyoto was pretty neat.  Once entering we had to hike up the mountain to get to the monkeys.  I enjoyed that.  We didn't have any official hikes on our trip so the random 20 minute walks up the mountain we great.

Once at the top we saw monkeys everywhere.  There were tons everywhere outside and a building we could go inside and feed the monkeys through the window.  It was kind of like we were in the cage and the monkeys were the free ones.

We bought some fruit so we could all participate in feeding the monkeys.

Beatrix even fed them while staying in the carrier.  I think she was happy to stay in the carrier.
There was no petting or touching the monkeys allowed.  We just kind of watched them do their thing.
Sometimes the monkeys would get territorial and chase other monkeys away.  They would bare their teeth at each other and looked pretty scary.  Mostly they ignored the people.  The only time they seemed to care about was was when we were inside the building feeding them through the window.
The babies were cute.
I think this was my first time seeing wild monkeys out and about.  I've seen them many times at the zoo, but to see them free just living was a different experience.
