Soccer Season 2021

Because of covid the sports league here only did a mini season.  I'm not sure the logic behind that but we were happy we got to participate at all, considering we didn't last year.

It felt very different than years past.  Masks were annoying, but the main differences were the shortened season and me working.  I worked every Monday they had practice so Bob had to get off work and take the kids to soccer.  Wednesdays I got to be there half the time, but I'm a YW leader and our girls meet also on Wednesdays.  It is a little crazy having 5 kids in soccer at the same time, but we made it work.  We had to split up for most games to watch the kids, and a couple times they had to go unwatched.  They really didn't seem to mind that much.  With only four games each, I was glad I got to watch each of them play at least one game.

The progression of the skills is pretty funny to watch.  Calista was scared to participate when they tried a scrimmage.  She eventually would run out to the ball attempt to kick it, and then run directly back to me or Bob.

Leon had fun during soccer and I think he wants to continue.

Scarlett doesn't really like soccer, but she tried her best and I'm glad she did it.  She may or may not continue.  She told me she doesn't want to, but when I explained that it might be her playing soccer or her sitting watching her siblings play soccer she wasn't sure.

Penelope was so small compared to some of the others on her team but she ran so hard and was pretty good.  She likes playing soccer and wants to stick with it.  Her team was a little difficult this year though and they ran a lot of laps.

Tucker's team was so intense.  He hasn't played since we moved to Japan, so I just wasn't expecting the amount of coordination and planned plays that his team had.  They were really fun to watch.  I was impressed with how well Tucker did especially since he has not played in years.
