While in Fukuoka we headed over to the Nanzoin Temple to see the giant reclining Buddha. But before we got to the giant one we got to rub a belly for good luck.
My favorite was all the little individual statues. These temple grounds were pretty large, there was even a little cave.
The reclining buddha was huge! It isn't common to find one laying down in Japan, I think this is my first.
Even the feet were decorated.
While heading home from our long day in Fukuoka our car broke down. We ended up sitting on the side of the highway for about an hour, in the dark. The kids were tired and hungry and Beatrix was scared. Friends came and got me and the kids while Bob waited for the tow truck. He ended up getting the car towed but he had to ride the train home and didn't get home until close to 11. It is going to be expensive to fix, so we have been biking around all week while we figure out what to do for a vehicle.
