Japanaversary

Last month was our first Japanaversary!  It is crazy that we have lived in Japan for over a year now.  Looking back it seemed like it went fast, but really only the second half went fast, those three months without our stuff living in a hotel went by very very slowly.  Then the next two months still without our stuff went by s.l.o.w.  I am so happy that we are now living in a house and feel settled.  It really did take me almost a year to feel that way though.  I know I took longer than most, we were told to give ourselves six months to feel settled.  I really do feel like I'm used to everything here and what it is like to live in Japan.  I'm used to the crazy garbage situation.  The first few months were hard, but I think that was because of our living situation, and then the summer was hard for me also and that was because of the weather.  Now that things have started to cool off I am finding that I really do like living here.

The kids all seem to have adjusted just fine.  In fact they were pretty fine the entire time.   None of them really had any transitional issues, except Calista.  I think we would have been much better at getting her to sleep and nap if we lived in a house.  But she really doesn't care where we live.  In fact all the kids just seem happy that we are together.  Maybe things were easier for them because we homeschool and they didn't need to get used to a new school environment.

They were pretty happy to eat cake!
