2020/2021 Goals

As 2020 came to an end we took some time to go over a few of our goals for the year.  One of my main goals was to run to the lighthouse and back.  It is just over 6 miles total.  Honestly not that difficult for me but it was something I needed to make an effort and plan to do.  I was regularly running three milesish and pretty happy about it.  I did want to run to the lighthouse but without the goal I'm not sure I would ever have gotten around to it.  So just weeks before the end of the year I did it.
It was beautiful and I ended up doing is two more times before the year ended.
Penelope had the goal to learn the splits and she was the most dedicated of us all.  She started out not even close at all and made huge progress.  I am amazed at her sometimes.  She dutifully practiced everyday for the whole year.  She did miss days here and there.  She probably averaged about 6 days a week.  But she kept it up and continued to stretch even when she was bored of it.
About two more inches and she will have it.  She is going to continue with this goal into 2021.
Scarlett had a goal to read the entire Book of Mormon and she did it.  I don't think she understood most of what she read, but I'm proud of her for making it through the whole thing.  And if she keeps it up she will start to understand as she gets older.
Scarlett also decided to repeat this goal for next year.
Tucker made the goal on the 29th to learn a 2x2 blindfolded before the end of the year.  He did not succeed, but he did work hard on it for a couple of days.  I think he is going to keep working on that goal for the next year.
Tucker also had the goal to learn the Avatar Theme song on the piano, and he did that.
Calista had the goal to potty train and she did it.  She started out on that pink potty but now uses the regular toilet.  She now goes to the bathroom on her own with the occasional accident.
Beatrix has taken over the pink potty and will be working on the goal of potty training for 2021.

Next year I have the goal of running 1,000 miles.  I'm not going to have a strong start either.  I've been having some foot pain so I'm taking this first week off and letting my foot rest.  I'm pretty sure my shoes were the problem and with some rest my feet will feel better.

We all made a few goals that we will be working on throughout the year.  I believe that goals are a good thing.  I personally know that I will accomplish way more if I have a goal and a plan.
