Zoo Day

We spent the morning at the Zoo.  It was really neat because when we first got there we were pretty much the only ones.  It was kind of an overcast Monday and Bob didn't have work but the kids near the zoo still had school so it was pretty much empty.  I have never seen it like that before.  We all had a good time.  We went with some friends who had a pass and they could even bring guests in so it was free!  It was a great way to spend a Monday.
The walrus were neat because we got there when they were feeding them.  First they took giant q-tip swabs then they brushed their teeth and then they did all kinds of tricks for us before they fed them.  They would shake, roll over, look any direction, and open their mouth all on command.  The trainer said the the male walrus last year got up to 4400 pounds!  wow could you imagine?  These animals are really huge.
I don't remember seeing the reindeer last time. We were able to get nice and close to one today though.
The aquarium area was definitely the kids favorite.
Tucker loved all of the fish and sharks and we set Penelope down by the glass and she was even getting pretty into it.  She screamed when we took her away.

They had adorable baby tigers that I think were about 5 or 6 months old.  It was cute to see them sleeping and then getting up and wrestling around with each other.

We saw a lot of animals and the kids did very well too.  Tucker didn't stay in the stroller but he didn't run away either.  I kept thinking Penelope was going to fall asleep but she managed to stay awake the entire time.  And she did get a little grumpy toward the end, but it wasn't bad at all.
