Maple Bacon Doughnut Recipe

I love the idea of a bacon doughnut!  They make total sense.  Donuts are for breakfast.  Bacon is also a very common breakfast food.  Often paired with pancakes that are usually covered in maple syrup.  I sometimes would dip my bacon in the syrup.  So why not put a few strips of bacon on top of a maple donut?  I am a huge bacon lover so these were great for me.  
This recipe was pretty easy.  But the dough does take a while so I would recommend starting the dough the night before.

Once the dough was ready I made maple frosting by adding 1/4 cup maple syrup to 1 1/2 cups powdered sugar.

Then I simply put the cooked bacon on top.
